Workshops 2026
Women + Queers in Clay
GasworksNYC
(Online Workshop Series)
Sundays, February 1-April 5, 2026, 2-4pm EST
This series of workshops will bring together the talents and perspectives of 10 women and gender non-conforming artists working in clay from around the country. Each week a different instructor will do an artist talk followed by a demonstration of one of their special skills or favorite techniques online via zoom. All classes will be recorded if you miss a class and you have access to the recordings for at least one year.
We are now offering three price points: zoom only for $250, or zoom with us and have studio access, and the ability to fire at our studio for $495. Also, if you are a community studio and want to purchase access for your studio members, you can do so with the "community studio package" option below. BIPOC folks pay $125 for the classes with no studio access, or $250 for classes with studio access. Email cor@gasworksnyc.com for a discount code. Note: there is no greenware storage at the studio with studio access.

COIL, CUT, CREATE: A WORKSHOP WITH CANDICE METHE -Hosted By Naomi Clement
January 28, 2025 6:30 - 8:30 pm EST
Price: $75 USD / $95 CAD*
This is a live virtual workshop
WANT TO BUILD BIGGER WORK BUT NOT SURE HOW TO KEEP THINGS STRUCTURALLY SOUND—OR HOW TO KEEP THE SURFACE INTERESTING AS YOU BUILD? In this demonstration-packed workshop, Candice Methe will show you techniques for creating large-scale coiled vessels with integrated surface design. Candice will demonstrate building from an upside-down pedestal foot, the ergonomics of working on larger forms, strategies for building successfully with coils, and how to cut into your work as you build to create pattern and surface interest that's truly integrated into the construction. She'll also show you how to build a lid directly onto your pot for a perfect fit—both physically and aesthetically. This workshop embraces coiling as a method for working intuitively. The slower pace of coiling gives you time to contemplate possibilities and respond to what the form is telling you as it grows. While Candice will demonstrate using functional forms, these techniques adapt beautifully to sculptural work as well.
